Goodbye from the Whales

This morning the whales put on a 20 minute show for us as close to shore as we’ve ever seen here in our bay.  We abandoned our breakfast and could not pull ourselves away from the sight.  It was wonderful -- everyone was outside watching.

I was just mesmerized by them and watched through our binoculars instead of taking pictures, so unfortunately no fabulous pictures...  but I swear they were raising their fins waving goodbye to us :)

Look how close this guy on a paddle board is
to the giant whale!  How scary!

Then we ran up to Ho'okipa Bay to watch the windsurfers one last time.  At first, there were just a few out practicing their new tricks but soon there was lots of entertainment.  This has definitely become one of our favorite ways to spend our time here.

Lots of windsurfers out today

The winds were strong and the waves were
great for windsurfing

We saw some excellent surfing -- amazing how these guys can actually flip, sail and all, and stay upright!

We stayed so long that we nearly missed our dinner and sunset in Lahaina.

But we didn't ...
