Party Cruise!

Here's one of the great things about being where we are in Florida -- a really short driving distance to Port Canaveral.  So I looked online and found a great last-minute deal for a short little cruise on Royal Caribbean.

At noon on Friday we left our house and in a little over an hour we were on Monarch of the Seas.  The weather was sunny and beautiful.

I don't know why -- maybe because it was such a short cruise, maybe because it was Superbowl weekend --  but this ended up being one of the biggest non-stop party cruises I've ever been on!  They started out the first night with a huge 70s disco party with great stage acts and the drinking and dancing went on way into the night.

First stop -- Nassau, Bahamas.  I had been a little worried that the weather would be cool and overcast, but it was not! :)

Colorful condos as you pull into Nassau

The colors of the Caribbean waters are amazing

We grabbed a water taxi and headed over to Paradise Island for a little beach time -- what a day! not a cloud in the sky.  We moved away from all the hoopla on the beach and found a relatively secluded area to relax and enjoy the beautiful day.

Check out the white, white sand

This night was the "formal dinner" night but ended with an upper-deck pool party with a great band -- and lots of formally dressed people in the pool.  Hilarious!

Next stop - Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean's private island) for a Caribbean beach barbeque:

Coco Cay is a really cute little island with lots of brightly painted shops, bars and sheltered picnic areas; hammocks and lounge chairs; snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing; a shallow bay for swimming; and some great barbeque food!  Royal Caribbean has really done a great job with their island.

Hey! Can you bring my drink out here to me?

Then back to the ship for the Superbowl bash -- and what a party!  Big movie-theater-size screens, huge buffet tables of wings, poppers, hotdogs, and nachos, waiters walking around with drink specials, green & white and black & yellow balloons everywhere -- such fun!

It was a great cruise, we got to renew our fading tans, and now we're home to rest from all the fun :)
