Daytona Bike Week

Daytona Bike Week is here and Joe's sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Dave, have come down to have some fun!  We are expecting a half a million bikers in Daytona this week, so it should be an interesting week to say the least!

They drove down from Kansas City and got here late afternoon Friday and, after a stop at Famous Philly's for dinner, we headed out to see the action.

There were tons of people out and Main Street in Daytona Beach was packed with bikes, bands and overflowing bars.  We came home and planned our riding route for the next day.

Saturday morning we couldn't wait to get on the road to see what all was going on -- and we weren't disappointed.

Ready for some biking fun!

First back down to Main Street and -- wow! there were some sights to see!

It was so crowded, so we headed for the open road on A1A for a great ride along the ocean -- it was a beautiful day.

We were riding around and saw a bunch of bikes at a bar called White Eagle Lounge, it looked promising and we were suddenly thirsty, so we stopped.

There were lots of vendors and a band playing out back, so we looked around for a while and then back on the road...

We'd all heard a lot about Daytona's Broken Spoke Saloon, so we headed over there.  It had a really great band playing and so much going on around the grounds.

Bikini Axe Throwing -- wow...

We hung out and had a really good time watching all the people and motorcycle events.  After a few more stops, we decided to head to DeLand, a town nearby where they were having a big parade and bike rally.  It's a really cute town and we had a great dinner at the Main Street Cafe.

We had been out for about 12 hours and my butt was totally numb... if we're going to ride again anytime soon, we knew it was time to go home.  What a great first day to what should be a great week!
